Everything Is Temporary – Voices on Home, Flight, and Belonging

  • Tuesday 30 June
    14:00, Re:Act

Young people from Danish Refugee Council Youth (DFUNK) step forward with their own texts and perspectives when three of the authors behind Everything Is Temporary share letters, poems, and writings about home, loss, hope, and everything in between. Their texts revolve around the feeling of being temporary—in a country, in a system, in a body. Through writing, these young people create a place to land, a place to give language to what is otherwise difficult to say out loud.

On stage, authors Arya Mahmoud, Haya Termanini, and Somaja Nourestani meet with anthropology professor Mikkel Rytter in a conversation about identity, belonging, flight, and the small and large spaces where one tries to create a sense of home. Moderator Shubhdeep Singh Parwana creates room for both readings, reflections, and dialogue with the audience.

DFUNK is the only nationwide organization in Denmark that primarily works for and with young people who have fled to the country. Since 2009, DFUNK has focused on the rights of young refugees and has played an active role in the public conversation about youth rights, mental well‑being, and access to being heard.

The talk will be in Danish.

Re:Act is presented by Rapolitics, Roskilde Festival, and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, with support from the Tuborg Foundation.
