Palme d’Or winner It Was Just an Accident, directed by Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, is a tense drama about revenge, truth, and responsibility. After an accident, mechanic Vahid recognizes Eghbal as his former torturer and takes him captive. Together with other former prisoners, they must decide his guilt – and his fate.
The film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes 2025 and received two Oscar nominations.
It Was Just an Accident is screened in partnership with the European Parliament.
