Ossi Michel Rhymes with “PDO”

    15:00, Re:Act

Ossi Michel is one of the young rappers who uses his voice to say the things many others struggle with in silence. He loves multisyllabic rhymes, metaphors, and wordplay, but his debut album Menneske (“Human”) shows that technique is only half the story. Here, he dives into life as a young person in a perfection‑driven culture, where insecurities, body dysmorphia, and the feeling of never being good enough take up more space than likes and algorithms ever reveal.

His sound ranges from boom bap to drum and bass, and the same range is found in his honesty: vulnerable, sharp, humorous, and unfiltered. Ossi Michel has also made his mark in the freestyle scene, where he has qualified for the Danish Freestyle Rap Championships three years in a row—the youngest to do so—proving himself in a space where everything is improvised and the voice must stand its ground.

At Re:Act, he takes it a step further. Here, he talks about diagnoses among young people, the pressure of perfection culture, and the phenomenon of “PDO (“Pisse dårlig opdragelse” = “Piss Poor Upbringing”) — and what it means for a generation constantly being measured, judged, and compared.

Re:Act is presented by Rapolitics, Roskilde Festival, and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, with support from the Tuborg Foundation.
