Join us for a film screening in the festival’s new cinema, where the opening film addresses the important topic of care and norms. Our surroundings and systems are full of norms that we rarely discuss. Silent norms that shape how we design our cities and influence the expectations we have of one another.
With the film The Tender Revolution as a starting point, author and activist Emma Holten and disability researcher Emil Falster are invited to reflect together on how these norms stand in the way of shared care for one another, and how, through conscious action, we can move towards a more caring society.
Emma Holten is the author of the critically acclaimed book Deficit, in which, drawing on feminist economic theory, she critiques the current economic system for overlooking the value of care work.
Emil Falster is a disability researcher and a current contributor to Silent Norm, published by the Bevica Foundation. He is also the author of Ableism, published by Samfundslitteratur, likewise in collaboration with the Bevica Foundation.
The talk will be moderated by Marie Ørbæk, Head of Interdisciplinary Studies and Event Manager at Roskilde Festival Folk High School.
Presented in collaboration with the Bevica Foundation.
