Lavish psychedelic cocktail of Latin rhythms and soul from Black Pumas founder

If you are one of the many who have been seduced by the music of the duo Black Pumas, you will know that guitarist and producer Adrian Quesada has a rare flair for combining warm soul sounds and psychedelic vibes.

Where Black Pumas have managed to breathe new life into America's rich tradition of soul, R&B, Motown, and funk in a style that combines stylish retro vibes with a modern pulse, Quesada has managed to do the same as a solo artist for Latin music, which has been a lifelong passion of his. Quesada grew up in Texas near the Mexican border, where he was introduced to Latin American music in his youth. Back in 2011, he earned acclaim for his work with Latin American music when, as part of the groundbreaking ensemble Grupo Fantasma, he received a Grammy for “Best Latin Rock Album.”

In 2022, he returned to Latin American music under his own name with a masterful result on the sensual Boleros Psicodélicos, which Rolling Stone called one of the year's "most gorgeous releases." In 2025, the work was followed up by a no less excellent companion: Boleros Psicodélicos II. Like its predecessor, the album, created in collaboration with producer Alex Goose (Childish Gambino, among others), is packed with inspiration from the Latin American ballad art of the 60s and 70s, mixed with Quesada's flair for psychedelic sound. It’s no coincidence that he’s chosen to call his show at this summer’s Roskilde Festival Adrian Quesada’s Boleros Psicodélicos.

Both albums also feature a string of collaborations with artists such as iLe, Money Mark, Gaby Moreno, and Angelica Garcia. Likewise, Quesada doesn't hold back when performing live, unfolding the universe of his psychedelic and groovy ballads in all their nuances with a large and sublime team of musicians and singers, who are also ready to spoil the audience at Roskilde Festival this summer.
