“It’s an intense, impactful LP, and I highly recommend checking it out if you’re into heavy music in any capacity.” Those were the words of American media outlet BrooklynVegan when Demersal released their debut album back in 2024. An album that quickly gained international acclaim.
You have to agree with BrooklynVegan. The Danish band delivers plenty of hard-hitting power to all fans of heavy music with their screamo-inspired hardcore. But the band has much more to offer with songs that find their beating musical heart in a balance between fragility and wild noise.
The aggressive elements of hardcore are contrasted by atmospheric post-rock, intimate indie pop and acoustic instrumentation, and the soundscape is completed by the core of four vocals, which emphasise the music's hopeful search for new caring communities in a chaotic and brutal world.
Demersal followed up their debut album in 2025 with the EP Vi Kunne Ikke Blive Her For Evigt, Vel?, which garnered excellent reviews. The band has toured extensively in both Europe and Japan and has played at a host of large festivals. Their rich live experience is clearly evident in the band's gripping concerts, where the emotional intensity of the music and the courage to bring vulnerability into a hard-hitting universe spreads to the audience.
