SUNDAY 28 JUNE

Visionary successor to the pioneers of funk and psych rock

  • Sunday 28 June

Roskilde Festival is going to explode into a psychedelic party of funky grooves and fuzzy guitar when Grande Mahogany takes the stage with his amazing band.

Grande Mahogany has Ghanaian roots, was born and raised in Finland, but also spent part of his youth in Manchester, where he absorbed the British music scene's club culture and grime productions. This diverse background adds a unique touch to his soulful and creative exploration of the funk and psych pioneers of the 60s and 70s, with clear nods to artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic and Sly & The Family Stone.

"Think Jimi Hendrix, reborn for the internet DIY era," Anthony Fantano from music channel The Needle Drop said about Grande Mahogany, highlighting the ecstatic debut album As Grande As as one of the 50 best releases of 2024. Other music sites such as The Line of Best Fit have also praised the album, which has also been nominated for a Finnish Grammy.

Since the album's release, Grande Mahogany has become a live favourite, generating excitement at numerous festivals. It's easy to see why, as the music's blend of psychedelic vibes, deep funk hooks and contemporary influences has a unique ability to bring audiences together for a wild experience that stays with them long after the show is over. We can safely promise a spectacular concert when Grande Mahogany visits Roskilde Festival this summer.
