Poetic spoken word and electronic rhythms inspire a radical hope

Get ready to laugh, move and be moved with British-Nigerian poet and performer Joshua Idehen. Blending poetry, beats and sharp British humour, he tears down power with wit and warmth one moment – and the next, he reminds us of the small things that make life bearable: taking a shower, calling a friend, and trying to be a better person.

Joshua Idehen has made it his mission to prove that the world can still be saved – one punchline and one beat at a time. Within the vibrant British jazz and club scene, he stands out with a charismatic voice that has given spoken word a fresh, rhythmic pulse. He’s collaborated with acts such as The Comet Is Coming, Sons of Kemet and Daedelus, with whom he released the acclaimed album Holy Water Over Sons.

Together with Swedish producer Ludvig Parment, he has since refined his electronic sound – most recently on the widely praised EP Mum Does the Washing, whose title track helped pave the way for performances at Glastonbury and in front of millions of viewers on Later… with Jools Holland.

In 2026, Idehen will release I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try – a poetic and uplifting record where electronic rhythms meet deep emotion. When Joshua Idehen takes to the stage at Roskilde Festival, expect a show that sets your funny bone, feet and heart in motion.
