THURSDAY 2 JULY

A unique fusion of classical strings, electronic soundscapes and dazzling visuals

A truly lavish and intense sensory experience awaits as the musical project Soli City joins forces with the Vertigo art collective to create audiovisual sensory spaces for a special project at this year’s Roskilde Festival.

Music, light art and scenography merge into a single work, inviting the audience to step inside with all their senses open; they can expect an immersive space of a constantly shifting nature. A space where the soft and dreamlike meet sharply defined structures, and where bodily warmth and technology come together.

The Soli City project was founded by artist and composer Harald Bjørn, who has made a name for himself through a series of works that often explore the intersections between classical composition, electronic soundscapes and a digitised reality. The music can appear at once radical, poetic and exploratory, and tends to blur the boundaries between composition, scenography and lighting.

Soli City’s artistic vision is thus a perfect match for Vertigo’s ambitious approach to creating audiovisual experiences. An ambition that has made the Copenhagen-based collective a leading force in its field, with collaborations featuring such diverse names as Hotel Pro Forma, the DR Symphony Orchestra and the duo Den Sorte Skole. Equally important, Vertigo has been a regular visual collaborator on Roskilde Festival’s Gloria stage for the past 10 years, which also provides the setting for this unique encounter. An encounter that gains an additional sonic dimension through the participation of the Akela string quartet. Look forward to a truly spectacular experience.
