THURSDAY 2 JULY

An occult, cinematic and heavy journey into the dark heart of psych rock

  • Thursday 2 July

The portal to a world of darkness and psychedelic visions opens over Roskilde Festival when Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats return to the festival with both new material and classics from their back catalogue.

The British band delivered a powerful demonstration of their prowess during a night-time performance when they visited Roskilde Festival in 2013, earning top marks from alternative music website Undertoner. "A psychedelic experience of the highest order," it read, and there is good reason to expect more of the same when Uncle Acid aka Kevin R. Starr brings his seasoned musicians to Denmark once again.

Since their debut album in 2010, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats have managed to deliver one gem after another in a trippy mixture of Black Sabbath-sounding stoner rock, doom and the darkest sides of 60s psych rock. All of this is combined with a genuine fascination with old horror films and occult atmospheres, which together unfold a captivating and disturbing universe.

On their latest album, Nell’ Ora Blu (2024), the band delved deep into their fascination with old Italian horror film soundtracks, and they are currently working on a brand new album, which we can expect to hear material from this summer. Live, they always deliver an enthralling show, where cinematic elements, psychedelic lighting and heavy riffs come together in an unholy harmony, orchestrated by a masterful front figure.
