Well-Deserved Recognition of our Volunteers

18.09.2025Commitment

Meet some of the many volunteers who lead the way by doing good – all for the benefit of others.

27,000 volunteers take part in creating Roskilde Festival.

Some wear brightly coloured vests, while others work tirelessly behind the scenes. They make all the difference – and perhaps they don't even realise it. Because they rarely think of themselves, and more often of those around them.

During this year’s festival, volunteers were encouraged to nominate their own festival heroes. With their help, we’ve now selected a number of these heroes, whom we honour for leading by example.

ALWAYS WELCOMING AND HELPFUL

Roskilde Festival’s emergency readiness is coordinated from the Emergency Services Office, which moved to a new location in 2025.

During this transition, Anders Findsen – who leads several volunteer teams – has delivered an exceptional effort. Every challenge was met with a smile – even when time was short.

As one volunteer wrote in their nomination: “Anders has always worked hard, but this year has been truly extraordinary. And even so, he remains welcoming and helpful to everyone around him.”

Thank you to Anders Findsen for tackling every task with great energy and care for others.

VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATED BY THE COMMUNITY

This year’s RFheroes were honoured on Saturday 13 September, when the festival’s year-round volunteers and members of the Roskilde Festival Charity Society gathered to celebrate RF25.

Next summer, we will engrave the heroes’ names on brass plaques and place them in the ground in front of the Orange Stage. This way, we can always remember that our festival is the culmination of a collective heroic effort.

DETERMINATION AND INFECTIOUS ENERGY

Distributing 3,000 bins across the festival’s many areas and stalls is no simple task.

As a brand-new volunteer, Mille Carlsen took on the challenge with steely determination and an extraordinary level of enthusiasm. With her team, she completed the task in the most impressive way.

This shows that it's easier to move in the right direction when someone lights the way – and that it doesn’t take years of experience to lead by example.

A big thank you to Mille Carlsen for stepping up as a new volunteer and contributing with such positive energy. Her team shared in their nomination that they’re already looking forward to working with her again next summer.

HELPING OTHERS MOVE FORWARD

Team Transport makes sure all other volunteers can get from A to B.

Every request for help is met with open arms, and despite urgent deadlines, a logistical solution is always found.

One volunteer expressed their appreciation in a nomination: “Even when it seems there’s no time or capacity to help with transport, they always find a way. And always with a polite tone and great energy.”

Thank you to Team Transport for helping others move forward. Your dedication makes it possible for others to succeed.

“MANY COME BACK YEAR AFTER YEAR”

Roskilde Festival is brought to life by a vibrant community of associations. Some handle key service tasks while others run food stalls or bars. As a volunteer for an association, you help create an incredible festival while also raising funds for the association’s own activities.

HG/Næstved Dragons has been chosen as Association of the Year for demonstrating how to take responsibility for the community and care for one another.

The association engages over 170 volunteers, all of whom are met with smiles, support and kindness.

Shifts are planned with great care to accommodate different wishes, and social activities are organised around them – including shared meals, homemade cookies, and group games.

As one volunteer remakrs: “HG/Næstved Dragons create a fantastic base for their volunteers. They really know how to keep us engaged – and many of us come back year after year.”

Thank you for making it fun and enjoyable to be a part of the festival.

TEAMWORK, INGENUITY AND INNOVATION

Managing the deposit system in a temporary festival city of 130,000 residents is no small feat. But through teamwork, ingenuity and innovation, Team Pant have risen to the challenge brilliantly.

Over the past few years, they’ve streamlined a complex process with a digital solution –to the benefit of fellow volunteers.

At the same time, they work hard to maintain their own strong team spirit, where everyone’s involvement is shaped around life outside the festival.

Thank you to the entire team for showing how we can always improve the way we do things at the festival.
