Take a seat at a table that brings together people, stories, and different interests across the festival grounds

A table is a place where we gather in the routines of everyday life. It is where we share a meal or tell a story, but it is also a place for conflict and negotiation. In an exploration of the table’s historical and cultural significance, the architecture group en:33 has created a table for the festival grounds: Table of Interests.

The festival grounds are a shared space used by many. It brings people together while being used and experienced with different interests in mind. Table of Interests consists of a CNC‑milled natural‑stone table with a surface that invites exploration of the landscape through a mixture of familiar festival objects and a map of the area. The table pictures how Roskilde Festival leaves its imprint both physically on the landscape and in memories etched for life in the participants.

en:33 is a collaboration between architects Esther Fröhlich and Anna Eglite. en:33 works experimentally in the intersection between landscape, architecture, and art. They are interested in forms of architecture that question our perception of and relationship to energy, resources, and nature.

Table of Interests will remain in the landscape for several years and serve as a meeting place for festival guests and the local community throughout the year.

The work is created in collaboration with E. Nielsens Mekaniske Stenhuggeri.
