Musical performance transforms the skate bowl into an instrument

  • Sunday 28 June
    15:30, Skate

Join Gelwane as they bring sound to the skatebowl at SKATE in West Camping with their interactive performance.

Known from the Danish underground scene for their unique electronic take on wall of sound and expressive shoegaze, Gelwane explore the interplay between sound and mythology at this year’s festival. A team of skaters rides in the skatebowl and, in union with the artists, creates an intriguing sound experience.

Skate or just be by the bowl and become part of a unique soundtrack, where shared energy and dynamic interplay emerge – both sonically and visually.

Gelwane was formed in 2024 by Tettix Hexer and Vio Lino after a meeting in Malmö, evolving from two solo projects into a shared collaboration.

Working at the intersection of sonic embodiment, and modern mythology, they explore a space between the reproduction of the past and cosmic disruption. Drawing on emergent sound, digital processes, and “heartstrumental” tuning, they create immersive, site-specific performances shaped by sensors, extended instruments, and their surroundings. Gelwane is based in Copenhagen and Turin, Italy.

Tettix Hexer is producer Jens Leonhard Aagaard, renowned on the Danish underground scene for his intensely hard-hitting live shows, euphoric and full of longing.

Vio Lino is a Danish–Italian project exploring sound without rules or genre boundaries. Using toy instruments, pipe organ, voice manipulation, sampling, and field recordings, they create a space where these sonic fragments coexist.

They are joined by musicians Mikkel Trøjborg Fink and Harald Ture, who become a part of Gelwane and bring sound to the moving body of the skatebowl.
