Join film screening about the streaming platform Spotify at the festival’s new venue, Cinema, followed by a conversation with the Danish trio Slim0 – one of the few Danish bands that has publicly criticized Spotify and removed all their music from the platform.
The event opens with the mini-documentary Why Spotify’s CEO Is Worth Billions While Musicians Make Pennies, produced by the Emmy-winning news outlet More Perfect Union. The film examines how Spotify’s business model and investments have radically reshaped the music industry. It is made in collaboration with Liz Pelly, author of the critically acclaimed book Mood Machine – a critical investigation into Spotify’s origins and its influence on music consumption.
After the screening, we talk with Slim0 about how artists and listeners navigate in a time when music streaming has become political – and what alternatives might exist.
Spotify is the world’s largest music streaming service and an integrated part of festival playlists, social media platforms, and dating apps. Compared to other services, Spotify pays less than a third in royalties to artists. In 2025, the company's co-founder and former CEO Daniel Ek led a €600 million investment in the German AI military-software firm Helsing, causing bands such as Massive Attack, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Deerhoof, Hotline, and Slim0 to boycott the platform
More Perfect Union is an Emmy-winning nonprofit news outlet and one of the fastest-growing political YouTube channels in 2025. The outlet specializes in video reporting and opinion coverage on the American labor movement, economic policy, and corporate accountability, with the stated aim of “building power for the working class.”
Slim0, a Copenhagen based trio, established themselves as one of the most exciting voices in the Danish underground with their 2024 debut album Forgiveness. Their music blends doom, grunge, and art-rock with strong vocal harmonies and intense live performances.
In June 2025, More Perfect Union received an Emmy Award for Outstanding News Discussion & Analysis.
