The new Danish trio Ponny kicks hard when they unleash their roaring mix of teenage pop, punk and anti-folk on the audience.
Although the songs possess all the catchiness one could wish for in a good pop song, don't expect any easy listening. Laura Maj Zeuthen, Anna Raaber and Asta Rebien, who make up the trio, deliver their message with screaming vocals, howling guitars and an energy of uncontrolled wildness and untamed anger. They are clearly tired of bullshit and not afraid to make loud noise.
The self-titled debut EP was released in 2025, and with clear inspiration from the Riot grrrl aesthetic, Ponny manages to sound as if they had electrified the angriest pages of a teenage diary in songs about idiots and bad sex. It is relatable and raw, but the songs also contain a heartfelt and liberating humour.
Live, Ponny is an even wilder experience, where fast, raw and smashing punk anthems create a cathartic space where everyone has room to scream out their anger and frustrations. They are sure to kick off a wild punk party when they bring their uncompromising expression to Roskilde Festival.
