Roskilde Festival has more than 2,500 volunteers who take part in creating the festival all year round or in the months leading up to the festival. They are the heart and soul of Roskilde Festival.
As an all-year volunteer, you become a part of a committed and diverse community spanning across generations, built upon 50 years of experience in organizing the festival. You make a difference and are an essential part of Roskilde Festival's ability to donate its entire proceeds to humanitarian and charitable causes.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to try new things, meet an amazing group of passionate and inspiring people, and leave your mark on Roskilde Festival. You'll gain lifelong experiences and become part of a team that’s dedicated to their mission and making a difference together.
Throughout the year, you’ll be invited to social and professional events. And, of course, we’ll top it all off with an unforgettable annual party!
As a year‑round volunteer at Roskilde Festival, you work with planning, coordination and development of the festival’s activities throughout the year. Roskilde Festival is divided into five divisions – which together create every corner of the festival.
In Deltagere (Participants), we ensure excellent hospitality for all our participants, from their arrival at Roskilde Station to their departure. Here, the focus is on traffic, parking, check-in, safety on the festival grounds, and creating fantastic camping areas for everyone. We set the framework for good behaviour among participants – so our festival can become greener and remain a safe haven for all.
In Handel og Gastronomi (Trade and Gastronomy), we secure a wide selection of organic and plant-based food, organic beverages, and responsibly produced products in our shops. We also manage cloakrooms, transport options, merchandise, battery charging, and camping gear rentals. Additionally, we create the best volunteer areas with plenty of perks for our volunteers.
In Kommunikation og Partnerskaber (Communication and Partnerships), we tell the story of Roskilde Festival year-round on social media and other channels. We run the info centre all year, conduct festival analyses, distribute donations, establish partnerships, and provide guided tours.
In Program, we curate the overall programme across music, art, and activism. Our ambition is to present progressive content in unique settings that embrace diversity. We have an international outlook and strive for diversity across all parameters. We also aim to lead the way in sound, lighting, and other aspects of festival production, building stages and production setups and taking them down again.
All-year volunteer is a collective term for all volunteers who contribute more than 100 hours a year to Roskilde Festival. Within this group, there are three different types of roles:
Festival Co‑creator: The commitment is 100+ hours, concentrated in a period before, during or after Roskilde Festival, typically between April and August. As a Festival Co‑creator, you take part in planning and carrying out specific tasks leading up to, during and after the festival.
Year‑round Co‑creator: The commitment is 200+ hours, contributed throughout the year or during specific periods. As a Year‑round Co‑creator, you are involved in the development and/or execution of concrete tasks all year round.
Year‑round Lead: The commitment is 300+ hours, contributed throughout the year or in a concentrated effort before, during or after the event. As a Year‑round Lead, you are responsible for or lead a group, area, team, project, deliverable or a specific field of expertise throughout the year or you lead volunteers with a focus on a defined task, such as being responsible for volunteer recruitment, setting the framework for task execution, and providing feedback to individual volunteers.
Note: The hour numbers are indicative, and each role comes with different terms.
Meetings are generally held at our offices in Roskilde or Vesterbro, Copenhagen.
The number of meetings varies depending on the role, but you can generally expect the time commitment to increase in the months leading up to the festival.
In addition, the different teams meet across divisions for three annual joint meetings and for the RF annual party in September.
All-year volunteers play a central role in the execution of the festival. They help ensure that the year’s planning is put into practice, and that each area functions as it should.
The time spent during the festival varies depending on the role.
Some all-year volunteers have a very active function during the festival itself. This may include tasks such as ensuring the daily operations of an area, acting as a contact person for a team, coordinating volunteers, handling practical challenges or making decisions when something needs to be solved quickly. These roles typically involve greater responsibility and therefore also a higher time commitment during the festival period.
Other all-year roles are mainly focused on the months before and after the festival. Here, the work may consist of planning, development tasks, administrative work or preparing materials and processes. Once the festival begins, these functions are often less demanding, providing more flexibility and fewer hours during the actual event
As an all-year volunteer, your terms depend on which of the three all-year volunteer roles you hold: Year‑round Lead, Year‑round Co‑creator or Festival Co‑creator.
However, the following terms generally apply to all year-round roles at Roskilde Festival:
- You get access to the entire festival
- You get access to all volunteer areas and the Backstage Village
- You receive meals throughout the festival in connection with your tasks
- You have the option to sleep in quiet surroundings
- You have the option to bring your children to the festival
- You receive catering at meetings throughout the year and invitations to joint meetings, the annual party and RFG events
- You can use meeting rooms in Roskilde and Copenhagen
