Strong opinions, charismatic stage presence and furious musical energy come together in perfect harmony when Portland band Dying Wish takes to the stage. With songs packed with vicious riffs and solid hooks, Dying Wish tackles sexism, religious fanaticism and the brutal violence of colonialism head-on. And with powerful vocalist Emma Boster at the helm, the pain and rebellious spirit of the songs are conveyed with raw intensity.
Dying Wish released their excellent debut album Fragments of a Bitter Memory in 2021 and have quickly achieved status as one of the most interesting names on the modern metalcore scene, having already collaborated with Bryan Garris from Knocked Loose on the song "Enemies in Red" in 2019. They are also a band that manages to transcend the metalcore genre with heartfelt songwriting and an alternation between melancholy and aggressive bursts of energy.
Their latest album, Flesh Stays Together from 2025, mixes bloody horror vibes and raw realism, depicting a modern world marked by deep division and violent power rhetoric. In a rave review, music site Angry Metal Guy wrote: "Flesh Stays Together hits hard and is impeccably played, as all good metal should be, but the powerful emotional core is even more potent, permeating the entire album".
Since the release of Flesh Stays Together, Dying Wish have been working on new material, already pointing towards the next chapter in their uncompromising sound. On stage, the band is an extremely captivating experience, and there is a good reason why big names such as Limp Bizkit, Poppy, and Spiritbox have invited them on tour. Now there is finally a chance to experience the metalcore comets on Danish soil when they visit Roskilde Festival.
