It will be a historic moment when the original Norwegian duo Karpe take to the stage at Roskilde Festival this summer for their very last Danish appearance ever. The rap duo, who started out under the name Karpe Diem, recently announced that they are bringing the project to a close with their tour Overtime/Overkill, giving their many fans one last chance to experience the truly special atmosphere of a Karpe concert. Fortunately, they’ll also be stopping off in Denmark on their farewell tour, which will take them to Roskilde Festival, where they gave an unforgettable concert in 2023.
At that time, the music magazine Gaffa awarded them the maximum 6 stars. As always, Karpe manage to deliver a concert experience far beyond the ordinary; in their home country of Norway, they have, since their debut release Glasskår EP in 2004, grown into a massive phenomenon, capable of both filling large arenas and garnering critical acclaim and awards. Back in 2022, they played no fewer than 10 sold-out shows at the Oslo Spektrum arena. An event that was also covered by several international media outlets, including Rolling Stone, which described the show as an “uncompromising spectacle”.
In 2026, Karpe set their sights even higher by creating their very own three-day festival centred around their unique musical universe. More than 100,000 tickets sold out in a matter of minutes, and once again the duo received rave reviews. Critics highlighted the duo’s ability to combine almost megalomaniacal ambitions with an intimate and engaging audience connection. At the same time, the two members, Chirag Rashmikant Patel and Magdi Ytreeide Abdelmaguid, who have Indian and Egyptian backgrounds, manage to tap into the Scandinavian national spirit whilst expanding it with global perspectives.
Like few others, they demonstrate the richness that a multicultural awareness can offer, and with humour, intelligence and a global conscience, they create moments that are both genuinely moving and thought-provoking amidst their grand-scale, captivating shows.
