Adventurous avant-pop and jazzy improvisations from critically acclaimed duo

“A reimagining of pop music that revels in lingering unease, challenging yet infectious”, The Guardian wrote in a superlative review of the duo Titanic's latest masterpiece, Hagen.

Behind the name Titanic we find Guatemalan cellist Mabe Fratti and Venezuelan guitarist Héctor Tosta, who, based in Mexico City, have created one of the most fascinating duo projects on the experimental Latin American scene. A duo that is both a distillation of the two musicians' ever-exploring and curious minds, but which at the same time offers both grandiose cinematic moods and a distinctive pop musical elegance.

Mabe Fratti has already impressed at Roskilde Festival, which she visited in 2024 with her solo project. Her musical hybrids of jazz improvisation, classical chamber music and dreamy songwriting have earned her numerous critical acclaim, and she has also made a name for herself as an artist with a great openness to new collaborations – such as Danish band Efterklang whom she collaborated with on their latest album.

In 2023, she launched the duo Titanic with Héctor Tosta. The collaboration resulted in the excellent debut album Vidrio, which was followed up in 2025 by Hagen. An album that truly showcases the duo's wide-ranging ambitions at the intersection of jazz's improvised and raw edge, ambient atmospheres and adventurous avant-pop carried by Mabe Fratti’s Kate Bush-inspired vocals. Great beauty and vibrant energy flow together in a rich musical universe that we look forward to experiencing live this summer.
