- Monday 30 JunePanel discussion: Hate speech vs. Freedom of speech, 14:00, Re:Act
Hate speech is prevalent—both online and in the public sphere. But when is it a legal part of free debate, and when is it an illegal act that forces voices into silence?
Amnesty has mapped the consequences of hate speech in a new report, focusing on the voices that are being threatened into silence. At Re:Act, we continue the discussion—with a twist of hip-hop. When Kendrick Lamar and Drake diss each other, is it just part of the culture, or are we crossing into the territory of hate speech?
The panel will feature one of the key figures behind Amnesty’s report, Oliver Anton, as well as lawyer Dina Hashem, and rapper and project leader Mads Lemmike from Rapolitics, and the conversation will be moderated by Manilla Ghafuri. Together, they will dive into how to fight hate speech without stifling freedom of speech.
Come and join us for a sharp and important conversation on how we reclaim our voice and look out for each other in a time of rising polarization!
Please note: This event will be in Danish.
Re:Act is presented by Rapolitics, Roskilde Festival, and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, with support from the Tuborg Foundation and the OpEn Fund.
