- Tuesday 1 July14:00, Dancefloor
Join Becoming Species as they bring their parade of species to the area around Dancefloor. Here, performers move through the landscape wearing masks that represent Danish animals, plants, and fungi – while playing music and moving as if they were one with their species.
The parade ends at Dancefloor, where you're invited to settle down on the stage or the soft surrounding hills. Becoming Species will guide a shared meditation, where you close your eyes and let your human body step aside – allowing yourself to transform into a new species.
When you feel something else take over – a red fly agaric, a fox, a seagull – it’s time to rise and dance. Not as yourself, but as the creature you’ve become.
Becoming Species is an activist performance collective that highlights species survival, biodiversity, and the ongoing climate crisis. Since 2020, they’ve created performative actions in public space in collaboration with Extinction Rebellion, and they also give talks and run workshops in settings ranging from universities to cultural events.
