Globally acclaimed music phenomenon Africa Express returns to Roskilde Festival – bringing with them the same sense of urgency, joy and unpredictability that has defined the project since the beginning. For over two decades, this boundary-breaking music collective has united artists across continents and genres in radically open creative collaborations in which anything can happen.

Founded in 2006 with a trip to Mali connecting local stars Toumani Diabaté, Bassekou Kouyaté and Amadou & Mariam with artists including co-founder Damon Albarn, Martha Wainwright and Fatboy Slim, each live show is unique, filled with spontaneous moments of magic, collaboration and discovery.

Africa Express has previously created unforgettable moments at Roskilde Festival, most recently in 2022. This summer, they return with the first live performance of brand-new music based on their upcoming album Bahidorá, which was created in the Mexican jungle. They’re bringing with them a stellar lineup of musicians, including singer-songwriters Moonchild Sanelly and Joan As Police Woman, rapper Mare Advertencia, art rock group Django Django, Mexican Institute of Sound, and of course, Damon Albarn.

This one-of-a-kind event is shaped by a exciting global lineup of pioneering artists from across Mexico and Africa, the U.S. and UK – on stage for a very special, completely original, mind-blowing show.
