When Karoline Funder picks up her guitar and lets her voice ring out, it's as if time stands still. With understated means, she reveals great beauty and a vulnerable contemplation that crystallises in songs reminiscent of American indie-folk artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Marissa Nadler.

The sound is atmospheric and dreamy, and the musical inspiration from American folk is clear, but the Danish-language lyrics also exude a down-to-earth experience that makes the songs present and relevant. With her wondering and honest songwriting, she uncovers intense complexity and unspoken pain in close relationships.

With just a handful of released songs, she has already performed on major stages and received strong praise from Danish music critics. Her debut single, “Vores forhandling,” enjoyed solid airplay on both P6 and P3 and already sounds like a new classic in Danish-language music.

The single appears on her stunning debut EP, Din mørke himmel, which received five stars in Soundvenue with the words: “Karoline Funder has cemented herself as an artist we can only look forward to experiencing at Roskilde Festival – and hopefully many times after that.” We couldn’t agree more.
