Roskilde Festival is rolling out the red carpet for one of the most striking new voices to emerge from the French-speaking part of Caribbean, as Maureen – known as "the queen of shatta" – makes her Danish debut, standing on the cusp of a global breakthrough.

The Martinican, France-based singer and dancer has spent the past five years leading the charge for shatta – a fresh genre hybrid blending dancehall, trap, and raw French attitude. The buzz around her rise truly took off in 2021 with the release of "Tic", a single that became a viral hit on TikTok. "Tic" opened the door to collaborations with dancehall heavyweights such as Vybz Kartel and Mr Vegas, while her 2022 track with Kalash, "Laptop", became the first shatta song in history to achieve platinum status in France.

Maureen’s lyrics explore freedom – physical, sexual, and personal – and she sings in both French and Creole about owning her desire, her space, and her identity on her own terms. She brings these themes vividly to life on stage with performances that are as visually intense as they are musically compelling. Her commanding vocals are complemented by charismatic choreography, where she doesn’t hold back in showing how a perfect split drop is done.

In 2024, Maureen released her long-awaited debut EP, Bad Queen, and with her latest singles "Bend Your Back" – featured on A COLORS SHOW – and "Daddy", she has set the stage for a highly anticipated debut album. Roskilde Festival, get ready to shake your booty to a bold contender for one of the next global stars!
