Waste sorting is a pure party

28.06.2024The festival

Bring your good waste habits from home and make a huge difference in the camp. Get a handle on the four types of waste before you and your friends clean up after the first party.

Who takes out the trash when the first camp party is over?

The answer is that we all – you, your camp friends, neighbours, and all of us from Roskilde Festival – share the responsibility of keeping the festival free of waste.

Fortunately, the answer also is that this year, it will be much easier and faster for you and your friends to sort your waste in the camp.

We have simplified the sorting process with four bags for four types of waste, each with its own colour.

The four types of waste are glass, metal, plastic and food and drink cartons, and residual waste – get an overview below.

Do as you do at home

It’s new, but actually familiar. You just need to sort your waste exactly as you do at home in your house or apartment.

The camp hosts distribute the bags throughout the week, and you can always get more bags at sorting stations or towers.

When the bag is full, tie a knot at the top and deliver it to the nearest sorting station or place it by the road where volunteers will collect it during the day.

In some areas, such as Rent Your Tent, volunteers do not collect bags. So remember to check how to dispose of the bags in your area when you arrive.

We need to recycle more

When you and your friends sort the camp’s waste into the four types, you help create a more environmentally friendly festival.

Every year, we send far too many usable resources to incineration.

But when we sort the waste, we can recycle much more together, benefiting the climate and environment.

This means that your sorted bottles can be turned into new glass instead of being burned as residual waste.
