Who deals with the rubbish once the first camp party is over? The answer is: all of us – you, your campmates, your neighbours, and all of us from Roskilde Festival – share responsibility for keeping the festival clean.
The good news is that this year, sorting your waste in the camp is easier and quicker than ever.
Just Like at Home
It may be new here, but it should feel familiar – because you’ll be sorting waste just like you do at home, whether that’s in a house or a flat.
The system is based on three simple steps:
- Sorting Bags – use them in your camp, just like you use bags or bins at home.
- Sorting Stations – drop off your full bags here, like taking the bin out.
- Recycling Stations – for waste that doesn’t fit in a bag, just like a trip to the recycling centre.
Sorting bags are handed out by Camping Hosts and Binfluencers at the beginning of the festival. If you run out, you can always grab more at a recycling station.
Once your bag is full, tie it up and drop it off at the nearest sorting station or recycling station. Easy and familiar – just like back home.

When you and your friends sort your campsite’s waste into four types, you’re helping to reduce unnecessary waste and make better use of valuable resources. Each year, we send far too many useful materials to incineration.
But when we sort our waste, we make it possible to recycle much more – good news for both the climate and the environment. It means your sorted bottles can become new glass instead of being burned as residual waste.
Don’t forget: You can return deposit bottles at refund stations (check the map), and glass for reuse at all bar areas.
