ABOUT THE TASK

With us, you'll help sort and pack reusable glasses so all the happy festival-goers can enjoy cold and hot drinks. You'll be under a pavilion sorting glasses and packing them in boxes while chatting with your new festival buddy or concert mate. There will be a great atmosphere and lots of wonderful volunteers enjoying music during the volunteer shifts.

As a volunteer with us, you will specifically: stand at long tables and sort the three types of cups we have on site and pack them in boxes. This provides plenty of opportunities for new friendships and singing along to music from a soundbox. Therefore, you will be standing during your shift.

Our location is on the gravel area next to Artist Parking behind Orange and Avalon.

We are looking for three types of roles, which you should specify in your email when applying:

  • 24h SORTING/PACKING (3 shifts of 8 hours between 07/03-07/07) mixed shifts 09:00-17:00 and 14:00-22:00
  • 32h SORTING/PACKING (4 shifts of 8 hours between 06/27-07/10) mixed shifts 09:00-17:00 and 14:00-22:00
  • 24h NIGHT SHIFTS (3 shifts of 8 hours between 06/28-07/07) shifts 23:00-07:00. You can apply as a group of 2-3 people or be paired with other enthusiastic volunteers

ABOUT YOU

With us, all you need are closed shoes, a good mood, and the desire for a great festival.

ABOUT US

At Team Reusable Glass, our core task is to ensure that glasses and cups are delivered to all RF's stalls so they can serve cold beers, drinks, and coffee while we have (in our opinion) the coolest team at Roskilde.

WE OFFER

We have an area at the site where you can retreat to the shade/shelter and take a break, as well as charge your phone if needed. This is also where you can enjoy a cold drink before leaving the site and enjoying the rest of the day. This year, we are trying out music bingo for everyone who wants to meet before their shift.

WANT TO JOIN US?

Please send an email to julie.nielsen@roskilde-festival.dk with the following:

  • Which role you are applying for? (24h, 32h, or night shift)
  • Are you over or under 18?

ABOUT THE TASK

For those of you seeking more than just access to the festival! We are a large community of around 180 volunteers operating a recycling and bottle return station and a bottle return machine in camping area L. Together, we count, pack, and stack the festival's various returnable items, contributing to green recycling. During our shifts, we're on our feet most of the time, but our skilled shift leaders ensure breaks and well-being! And if you'd like a bit more responsibility, there's always the opportunity to become a shift leader.

As a volunteer, you'll have four shifts of eight hours each, including one night shift. To ensure a fair distribution of shifts, everybody will have two shifts during First Days and two shifts during Final Days. You'll have the opportunity to request shifts and also to sign up with your friends!

ABOUT YOU

It doesn't require any special skills to be a volunteer with us, except that you should be good at counting to 10 many times during your shift ;-) We also place great importance on good communication with the festival's bottle collectors, a positive atmosphere, and a good demeanor in and around the recycling station.

ABOUT US

We are Grænseforeningen Ungdom, a youth organization with roots in the Danish-German border region. 2024 will be our 17th Roskilde Festival, so we come with many years of experience and have built a large network of volunteers. We love language and cultural exchange and in 2023, we were a community of 14 nationalities. Our youth organization aims to be a network for young people from the minority regions along the border. If you volunteer with us, you support Grænseforeningen Ungdom's work throughout the year!

WE OFFER

In addition to the festival's offerings for all volunteers, we have our own little backstage area. Here, you'll get free breakfast every morning that we eat together. Our volunteer tent is also a meeting place, a shelter in rainy weather, and a place with inexpensive draft beer.

With us, you have the opportunity to request shifts and sign up with your friends. You can also get involved as a shift leader if you're interested in other tasks and enjoy having oversight and taking responsibility.

We also provide four meal vouchers that you can use at the festival's wide selection of food.

Last but not least, you'll have the opportunity to become part of our community and possibly meet some great new friends!

ABOUT THE TASK

As service hosts at Volunteer Camping, our primary task is to patrol the camping area and ensure that it remains tidy, quiet, and a pleasant place to be. This involves ensuring tents are properly placed, people are not too noisy, and overall cleanliness is maintained. Volunteer Camping is the cleanest and most peaceful of all camping areas at the festival, as it needs to provide a space for volunteers to rest and sleep during the event. Additionally, we aim to be visible and accessible to people in the camping area to ensure "the orange feeling" and a good atmosphere.

The shifts consist of 4 shifts of 8 hours each – a total of 32 hours:

  • 1 shift during the music days
  • 1 night shift
  • 2 shifts of your choice

You can choose your own shifts, and there are plenty available before the music starts, making the schedule quite flexible – plus, you have the opportunity to take shifts with your friends!

ABOUT YOU

You are friendly and welcoming, both to your colleagues in the team and to other festival guests/volunteers.

As a service host, it is required that you move around and stand a lot during your shifts!

You can speak English. Roskilde Festival is an international event, and Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke is an international organization. Therefore, it is necessary that you can speak English. However, communication on the radio during the festival is in Danish, meaning non-Danish speakers will be paired with a Danish-speaking person during their shift.

ABOUT US

Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke is a movement fighting for a more just and sustainable world, free of discrimination, climate crisis, and poverty.

A call from a former volunteer:

"The reason I like Volunteer Camp Area is that it becomes my own Roskilde Festival base. It's quiet, which is super nice after a wild night of music and partying. I can set up my tent with my fellow volunteers, take a hot shower, have clean toilets, and participate in events at Volunteer Camp. The work is not too hard, and most of the time, I end up chatting with people during my shift! It's also nice that the organization gathers 300 volunteers, so you meet a lot of different people. I really like that I not only get a free festival ticket but by volunteering here, I can financially support social projects around the world. When I volunteered last year, it was for a feminist leadership project in Uganda designed to combat sexual harassment at Ugandan universities."

Your work helps us raise funds for our daily efforts to support young people in their fight for rights and the building of democratic, sustainable societies worldwide. This year, all proceeds will go towards supporting youth platforms in Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on Ukraine.

WE OFFER

In addition to the benefits provided by the Roskilde Festival to all volunteers, as a thank you for your efforts with us, you will have access to the Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke base lounge, become part of a community of volunteers, and receive free access to Volunteer Camping, where you can set up your tent alongside other volunteers.

ABOUT THE TASK

What will you be doing? You will have shifts on the festival grounds where you will contribute to a friendly and welcoming atmosphere by explaining the rules about refund and cash payments, answering questions, helping to solve any problems and misunderstandings, and, especially in the refund booths, helping to keep the area tidy.

  • You should be outgoing and initiate contact with the refund collectors
  • Create a sustainable experience for all parties present at the festival (yourself included!)
  • Pass on important information to your great co-volunteers

Practical information:

  • The shifts are in the period between Saturday 29th of June and Sunday 7th July of 2024
  • You will take part in a mandatory information meeting before the festival on 22nd of June at 10am in Roskilde
  • You will volunteer for 32 hours (4 shifts), divided into morning and evening/night shifts
  • Your shifts will be with a group of volunteers, so you have the possibility of taking the shift together with a friend
  • You get to choose which shift package you would like from the available shift packages. Your shifts are spread across both the first anf main days
  • You will never be expected to intervene in a conflict, but we expect you to be observant and to contribute constructively to prevent possible conflicts
  • You will always be able to contact a manager during your shifts

ABOUT YOU

  •  You have good people skills - you are ready to initiate contact and curious about others
  • You feel confident talking to people from different cultures who are in a vulnerable position
  • You are happy to help where you can

ABOUT US

Every year, hundreds of people from all over Europe come to Roskilde Festival to collect refundable bottles ("pant") to make a living for themselves and their families. They play a very important role at Roskilde, since they help clean up and recycle after all the festival guests. There are new collectors coming every year, and many are unaware of the festival's rules and do not speak Danish nor English.

Responsible Refund is a social project by Roskilde Festival, aiming to help and celebrate the refund collectors both while they are out working and when they are taking a break. Your tasks as a refund guide takes place throughout the entire festival area, including in front of the festival refund booths. As a refund guide, you will walk in pairs to cover one area – and that means you will probably walk for great part of your shift.

To guide the bottle collectors and keep the lounge running, we need engaged, sociable and open-minded volunteers. So come and help us create a good experience for the refund collectors - and no, you will not be counting or collecting refund at the festival :)

WE OFFER

Alongside the benefits you receive from Roskilde Festival for being a volunteer, our Responsible Refund team will also have fun social events planned before, throughout, and after the festival! This includes setting up our tents after our information meeting and grabbing a beer, going to concerts and talks together, and having a post-festival picnic together.

WE OFFER

In connection with our own base in Vikarservice, there is a cozy waiting area, toilets, free drinks and the possibility to charge your phone and lend power banks. Last year we had a visit from Orgel-Allan who entertained and we have a lounge-snooze corner under pavilions furnished with cushions and blankets. It will be possible to have a bag standing in our office during a festival day. Snacks, homemade cakes and sweets were also part of our office last year.

New acquaintances, even friendships, are waiting for YOU when you are sent into the field by our friendly dispatchers (office staff). If you are part of Vikarservice, you are also part of our Facebook group. Here, the substitutes can post photos and short descriptions that show where they help out. This gives a fun wonderful insight into what types of tasks other supstitues were involved in and it strengthens the community in our unit.
