In just a few years, American artist Addison Rae has evolved from a viral TikTok phenomenon into a Grammy-nominated global pop force, earning critical acclaim while delivering undeniable hits.

In August 2024, she marked her major breakthrough with the understated pop anthem “Diet Pepsi”, signalling a new chapter for the fast-rising singer, songwriter and performer. The track offered an early glimpse of the assured aesthetic direction that would fully unfold on her debut album Addison. With songs such as “Aquamarine”, “High Fashion” and “Headphones On”, Addison Rae established herself as a pop artist fluent in both nostalgia and reinvention. Channeling 90s touchstones like Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Madonna, she shapes a sound that feels sensual, self-aware and distinctly contemporary.

Addison was widely praised by leading publications including The Fader and The Washington Post, while Danish outlet Soundvenue described it as “an outstanding display of vibes” in their five-star review. At the same time, she has built a substantial global audience, now counting more than 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify — proof that her appeal extends well beyond early hype and into lasting cultural impact.

Although rooted in the American pop tradition, Addison Rae maintains close ties to the Scandinavian scene. Addison was co-written and entirely produced by Swedish duo Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser, whose sharp pop sensibilities align seamlessly with her own. Collaborations with artists such as Charli XCX, A.G. Cook and Arca further underline her place within a new, collaborative era of pop music.

Despite a relatively short touring history, she has already demonstrated strong stage presence. Following her first European tour last year, The Guardian wrote of her Manchester Academy show: “pop’s newest A-lister has the stagecraft of a veteran”. This year, she appears at only a handful of selected European festivals. On Friday evening, she takes to the Orange Stage at Roskilde Festival.
