The good summer vibes are in full swing when Thai band Khana Bierbood takes to the stage at Roskilde Festival with their deeply charming and psychedelic sound.
The band was formed in 2012 and took a name that can be translated as "strange brew". And you can be prepared for your mind to bubble over with cosmic energy when the six musicians open up their euphoric mixture of Thai funk, traditional Thai music, surf and psychedelic garage rock.
The inspiration is drawn not least from the Thai music scene of the 1960s and 1970s, where the influence of Western psychedelic rock merged with Thai music genres such as luk thung and molam. Khana Bierbood has managed to capture the groovy vibe of this cultural melting pot, while transforming it into something fresh and personal.
“A trippy experience” is how debut album Strangers From The Far East (2019) was described in a glowing review by Echoes and Dust. But Khana Bierbood are no longer strangers, having got the whole world dancing to their hypnotic music. The stunning follow-up to their debut album, Monolam (2024), elaborates on the band's vision for a new psychedelic revolution in Thai music, and with their extensive live experience, the band is ready to create a trippy and funky party at Roskilde Festival.
