The Brazilian icon returns to Roskilde Festival with her flamboyant and soulful style

  • Saturday 4 July

She is a huge star in her native Brazil, and anyone who attended Liniker's concert at the Roskilde Festival in 2023 would have no doubt as to why. With her painfully beautiful vocals, dazzling charisma and, to put it mildly, a terrific live band, she takes to the stage with a generosity that few others can match.

Her soul-inspired band Liniker e os Caramelows, which broke through in 2015, made her a hot name on the Brazilian music scene with their mix of Brazilian traditions, music from the African diaspora and contemporary pop, soul and R&B. The band gained international recognition with, among other things, a sensational Tiny Desk Concert and laid the foundation for a solo career that really took off with the dazzling album Indigo Borboleta Anil (2021).

The album earned Liniker a Latin Grammy for Best Brazilian Popular Music Album, making her the first transgender musician ever to win a Latin Grammy. For Liniker, music and activism are inseparable, and she has persistently used her music as a platform to create space for queer and transgender voices.

Her latest critically acclaimed album, Caju (2024), is named after an alter ego that Liniker created to convey a personal narrative of self-acceptance and healing, and as a listener, one cannot help but be moved. Pop Matters also named Caju the best Brazilian album of 2024. On stage, Liniker's captivating blend of Brazilian and African roots, jazz, R&B and soul is lifted by a large live band, setting the stage for a musical experience of the highest order when they return to Roskilde Festival this summer.
