They have not yet released any music, and so far they have only played one concert. However, that one concert, which took place at Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavik, made them an instant cult name, and at Roskilde Festival we are thrilled to be able to present their first European concert.
The two musicians behind the project, Herdís Stefánsdóttir and Salka Valsdóttir, are not unknown names. Stefánsdóttir has a classical background and is a renowned film composer, while Valsdóttir is known from, among other things, the hip-hop collective Daughters of Reykjavík.
The unlikely pair met at a concert and bonded over a desire to create a maximalist expression that would be simultaneously feminine and brutal, colourful and raw. It must be said that they have succeeded with their intense electro-pop, which draws on everything from hardcore techno and gabber to metal and pure pop ecstasy.
It's entertaining, unpredictable and utterly irresistible. At the same time, their genre-bending musical collisions sound like nothing else. Scam is working on a debut album, and the first singles from it are expected to be released in the spring. Expect a concert far beyond the ordinary when the cult duo takes the stage at Roskilde Festival.
