With irresistible melodies, engaging lyrics and plenty of indie swagger, new British star Rachel Chinouriri is ready to take over Roskilde Festival – bringing a force and charisma that place her alongside powerful voices like Lola Young, who is also performing at this summer’s festival.
Rachel Chinouriri cites the Britpop era’s combination of infectious pop melodies and roaring rock guitars as a key inspiration, and she is also influenced by Lily Allen’s attitude-filled pop universe. However, her own personality shines brightly through on songs that often tackle traumatic topics such as depression, grief and racism – yet remain uplifting in their energy.
Rumours of her knack for writing both stylish and charming indie pop gems have been bubbling underground since she started posting tracks on Soundcloud as a teenager. But since the release of her debut album What a Devastating Turn of Events last year, Chinouriri has become impossible to ignore – truly joining the ranks of British artists shaping the guitar-driven pop sound of right now.
The album garnered excellent reviews and also earned the young songwriter two Brit Awards nominations. And with an invitation to support Sabrina Carpenter on her latest tour, Chinouriri continues to win over new fans. She has just released the Little House EP, once again underlining her remarkable songwriting talent – and we can’t wait to experience the songs live this summer.
