Sublime Afrobeats trailblazer takes over Orange Scene for her first Danish show

Armed with a world-class voice and an affirming burst of energy from Afrobeats and R&B, Tems (aka Temilade Openiyi) has rapidly become the standard-bearer for an African music explosion that can be heard all around the world. This explosion will culminate this summer with a swaying and rocking mega celebration on Orange Stage.

The Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer currently has the world eagerly anticipating news about Tems' long-awaited debut album. The album is expected to drop in 2024 and is predicted by leading music media to push her to the top of the afrobeats mountain, already populated by giants like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Rema.

Since her debut single "Mr Rebel" in 2018, Tems has lived two lives: one as the preferred collaborator of superstars and the other as a global hitmaker in her own right. On one hand, Tems has lent her sublime vocals to names like Wizkid, Future, Drake, and Beyoncé, while in her own name, she has filled massive arenas in her home country and festivals such as Lollapalooza in the USA last year and England's Glastonbury in 2022, despite having released only two EPs, the breakthrough For Broken Ears and its (if me must say so) perfectly titled follow-up If Orange Was a Place.

Regardless of where one has experienced Tems, it feels like she is on home turf, as the Nigerian singer has proven that she is an extraordinary and enchanting live performer that one must witness. And for the first time, Denmark will have the chance to do so when she graces Orange Scene this summer with her band and a repertoire packed with hits!
