Facts about Roskilde Festival

  • The festival takes place from Saturday 27 June to Saturday 4 July 2026. 
  • 177 music acts and more than 90 artists, authors, performers, speakers, musicians, graffiti artists, architects, and more contribute to the overall program. 
  • There are seven music stages: Arena, Eos, Fauna, Gloria, Lagune, Orange Scene and Platform.
  • Additionally, there are nine other festival venues: Cinema, Food is Now, Re:Act, Skate, Stadion, Dancefloor, Grow, Rehearsals of Belonging and The Yard.
  • Roskilde Festival 2026 is the 54th festival.
  • The first festival took place in 1971. 
  • With more than 130,000 participants, Roskilde Festival ranks as Denmark's fourth largest "city" in terms of population.

  • The average age of participants is 24 years.

Tickets

  • The festival has approximately 87.000 unique daily visitors.
  • Full festival ticket for the entire week costs DKK 2,600 (approx. € 348) including ticket fee, two-day ticket costs DKK 2,200 (approx. € 295) including ticket fee and one-day ticket costs DKK 1,430 (approx. € 191) including ticket fee.
  • Tickster is the official ticketing provider for Roskilde Festival.

Areas

  • The festival area covers approximately 2.500.000 square meters. That’s equivalent to 350 football pitches.
  • The festival site itself measures approximately 420.000 square meters. 
  • Participants set up around 50.000 tents in the camping areas
  • The camp site is open from Saturday 27 June at 16.00 until Sunday 5 July at noon.
  • The festival site opens on Wednesday 1 July at 16:00.

The organization

  • Roskilde Festival is organized by The Roskilde Festival Charity Society and created by approximately 27.000 volunteers.
  • The festival is non-profit. All profit from the festival is donated to humanitarian and cultural work.
 
  • Since 1971, Roskilde Festival has generated 476 million DKK for distribution. 
  • Anyone who has been a volunteer at Roskilde Festival, and contributed with an effort that generates a wristband, can become a member of The Roskilde Festival Charity Society in the following year, participate in the annual general meeting, and run for the board.
  • The Roskilde Festival Charity Society is part of the Roskilde Festival Group.

Volunteers

  • Approximately 27.000 volunteers are involved in creating the festival.Of these, around 15,500 are affiliated with associations and organizations while approximately 1,500 volunteer all year round and about 1,000 put in a major effort in the months leading up to the festival. The remaining 9,000 volunteer for the Roskilde Festival Association before, during, and after the festival.
  • In 2025, there were approximately 2,650 international volunteers.
  • Numerous associations and organizations contribute to Roskilde Festival by running food stalls and taking on hosting and service tasks. Their involvement enhances the festival experience and their participation is also a way for the festival to financially support the development of cultural life and civil society.
