FRIDAY 3 JULY

Rising rapper, singer and producer with lyrical depth and an eclectic soundscape

  • Friday 3 July

Jim Legxacy has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting new voices on the British music scene. Following the strong mixtape Homeless N*gga Pop Music from 2023, he truly broke through last year with the critically acclaimed Black British Music (2025), released on the influential label XL Recordings and described by NME as “a potential future classic”.

On his latest release, Jim Legxacy expands both his musical territory and his perspective. Black British Music moves through a wide-ranging space between rap, pop, afrobeat, emo and R&B, while thematically circling family, grief, belonging and life as a Black Briton. Audible samples of British rap, pop and soul collide and are repurposed as building blocks for new narratives. That it never turns chaotic is due to Legxacy’s strength as a producer, as he pulls the many elements together into a cohesive and compelling whole.

Alongside his solo work, Jim Legxacy has made a clear impact on the British mainstream. He collaborated with Fred again.. on the 2024 album Ten Days and, just as significantly, co-wrote and co-produced the smash hit “Sprinter” with Central Cee and Dave in 2023. The track topped the UK charts and went on to break records as the longest-running rap song at number one.

In other words, all signs point towards a future firmly in Jim Legxacy’s favour. He has already built a devoted cult following at home, where he now plays sold-out shows. This summer, Roskilde Festival will have the pleasure of hosting Jim Legxacy’s first-ever concert in Scandinavia – an experience not to be missed.
