Marwan Moussa is not just a leading light on Egypt's hip-hop scene. The prolific rapper and producer is a cultural icon throughout the Arab world and in 2022 received the Best African Rapper award at the All Africa Music Awards.
Although he only started making music in 2016, he already has an impressive catalogue of releases behind him, and hits such as "Tesla" and "Batal 3alam" have established him as one of the most streamed artists in Arabic hip-hop.
He made his breakthrough with the 2019 album Propaganda. An album that elegantly showcases his ability to fuse modern trap beats with the rhythms of danceable Egyptian street music, shaabi. Since then, he has collaborated with Palestinian artist Saint Levant, among others, who performed at last year's Roskilde Festival.
Marwan Moussa's embrace of a more introspective style is evident on his deeply personal and moving album, The Man Who Lost His Heart, from 2025. A courageous and engaging release that tackles topics such as loss, grief and healing. The album marks another milestone for the Egyptian star and sets high expectations for his performance at this year's Roskilde Festival.
