A psychedelic odyssey through Latin club sounds and contrasting landscapes

Miami artist Nick León has been busy over the past few years. The seasoned DJ and producer contributed to Spanish artist Rosalía's groundbreaking album Motomami in 2022, while also remaining a sought-after DJ in both Europe and the United States.

A deep dive into Latin America's club scene via trips to Brazil and Ecuador, however, gave him a musical revelation that led to a creative rebirth and a desire to step forward more as an artist in his own right. This happened in a big way on the stunning album A Tropical Entropy from 2025. An album that stands as a bold artistic manifesto, drawing inspiration from both the Latin club scene, Joan Didion's novel Miami and psychedelic borderline states, delivering both lush and danceable summer vibes and a smouldering dystopian tone.

The album includes his collaboration with Danish singer Erika de Casier on the massive hit "Bikini," which was hailed by several media outlets as a genuine summer banger. The album reflects the contrasting moods of León's home state of Florida. Hot parties and rare beauty, but also images of fragile ecosystems on the verge of collapse.

A Tropical Entropy was released on the visionary Colombian label TraTraTrax and has garnered widespread critical acclaim. Pitchfork gave it the Best New Music label, with Resident Advisor also praising it, writing: “This record doesn't just flex his different skills; it presents a consummate vision of his artistry as well as a snapshot of a time and place, nay, a vibe.” That atmosphere is set to come alive on stage when Nick León brings his psychedelic universe to Roskilde Festival this summer.
