ABOUT THE TASK

At Team Genbrugsglas (reusable cups), we take care of all handling of beer, drinks, and coffee cups both before the festival opens and during the festival. Here you will stand alongside many cool volunteers and handle the incoming glasses after they have been used around the festival site. After we have collected glasses from around the site, they need to be sorted, stacked, and packed for cleaning throughout the day.

You will stand under a pavilion providing cover from the harsh sun or potential rain, although we always encourage dressing appropriately for the weather.

We offer the option to contact us in larger or smaller groups, and we ensure to create the best team composition together with your friends and the many other awesome volunteers.

We primarily offer shifts starting at 9 am and 2 pm, as well as people for observation shifts during night shifts starting at 11 pm.

ABOUT YOU

To become a part of Team GG, you just need to show up with closed shoes, a good mood, weather-appropriate clothing, and the desire for a great festival.

ABOUT US

At Team GG, our primary task is to ensure there are glasses and cups available to enjoy all of the festival's beverages.

WE OFFER

We offer a base camp in front of the sorting station where you can take breaks during shifts. Here, you'll have the opportunity to charge your phone and have a chat with other volunteers over a cold soda.

ABOUT THE TASK

As service hosts at Volunteer Camping, our primary task is to patrol the camping area and ensure that it remains tidy, quiet, and a pleasant place to be. This involves ensuring tents are properly placed, people are not too noisy, and overall cleanliness is maintained. Volunteer Camping is the cleanest and most peaceful of all camping areas at the festival, as it needs to provide a space for volunteers to rest and sleep during the event. Additionally, we aim to be visible and accessible to people in the camping area to ensure "the orange feeling" and a good atmosphere.

The shifts consist of 4 shifts of 8 hours each – a total of 32 hours:

  • 1 shift during the music days
  • 1 night shift
  • 2 shifts of your choice

You can choose your own shifts, and there are plenty available before the music starts, making the schedule quite flexible – plus, you have the opportunity to take shifts with your friends!

ABOUT YOU

You are friendly and welcoming, both to your colleagues in the team and to other festival guests/volunteers.

As a service host, it is required that you move around and stand a lot during your shifts!

You can speak English. Roskilde Festival is an international event, and Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke is an international organization. Therefore, it is necessary that you can speak English. However, communication on the radio during the festival is in Danish, meaning non-Danish speakers will be paired with a Danish-speaking person during their shift.

ABOUT US

Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke is a movement fighting for a more just and sustainable world, free of discrimination, climate crisis, and poverty.

A call from a former volunteer:

"The reason I like Volunteer Camp Area is that it becomes my own Roskilde Festival base. It's quiet, which is super nice after a wild night of music and partying. I can set up my tent with my fellow volunteers, take a hot shower, have clean toilets, and participate in events at Volunteer Camp. The work is not too hard, and most of the time, I end up chatting with people during my shift! It's also nice that the organization gathers 300 volunteers, so you meet a lot of different people. I really like that I not only get a free festival ticket but by volunteering here, I can financially support social projects around the world. When I volunteered last year, it was for a feminist leadership project in Uganda designed to combat sexual harassment at Ugandan universities."

Your work helps us raise funds for our daily efforts to support young people in their fight for rights and the building of democratic, sustainable societies worldwide. This year, all proceeds will go towards supporting youth platforms in Eastern Europe, with a particular focus on Ukraine.

WE OFFER

In addition to the benefits provided by the Roskilde Festival to all volunteers, as a thank you for your efforts with us, you will have access to the Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke base lounge, become part of a community of volunteers, and receive free access to Volunteer Camping, where you can set up your tent alongside other volunteers.

  • You are happy to help where you can

ABOUT US

Every year, hundreds of people from all over Europe come to Roskilde Festival to collect refundable bottles ("pant") to make a living for themselves and their families. They play a very important role at Roskilde, since they help clean up and recycle after all the festival guests. There are new collectors coming every year, and many are unaware of the festival's rules and do not speak Danish nor English.

Responsible Refund is a social project by Roskilde Festival, aiming to help and celebrate the refund collectors both while they are out working and when they are taking a break. Your tasks as a refund guide takes place throughout the entire festival area, including in front of the festival refund booths. As a refund guide, you will walk in pairs to cover one area – and that means you will probably walk for great part of your shift.

To guide the bottle collectors and keep the lounge running, we need engaged, sociable and open-minded volunteers. So come and help us create a good experience for the refund collectors - and no, you will not be counting or collecting refund at the festival :)

WE OFFER

Alongside the benefits you receive from Roskilde Festival for being a volunteer, our Responsible Refund team will also have fun social events planned before, throughout, and after the festival! This includes setting up our tents after our information meeting and grabbing a beer, going to concerts and talks together, and having a post-festival picnic together.

Therefore, you will have 4 shifts of 8 hours each – spread throughout the week (Saturday, June 29th – Saturday, July 6th). 2 shifts in the first days and 2 shifts in the music days. Ideally, you should be available throughout the mentioned period, but if there are individual days you cannot work, we will try to accommodate that in the shift planning.

ABOUT YOU

You don't need to have experience behind a bar – you'll learn that. By the end of May at the latest, we will announce shift packages, requiring 17-20 people in total for 7 teams. We expect to be able to give you shifts with those you sign up with. The shift packages will be arranged so that all teams have morning, afternoon, evening, and night shifts spread throughout the festival week (Saturday, June 29th – Saturday, July 6th). You will receive your final shift schedule by email, no later than 2 weeks before the festival begins.

ABOUT US

Gimle is Roskilde's regional venue and youth culture house, offering cultural events with quality, content, and diversity. We are a user-driven house that is daily run by a group of around a hundred volunteers, with the assistance of a group of permanent staff.

Gimle's surplus is used to arrange concerts and other cultural events. This means that your work at the Roskilde Festival contributes to Gimle being able to arrange even more concerts and cool events in the future.

Gimle has extensive experience participating in the Roskilde Festival, and we have a close collaboration with the festival year-round.

ABOUT THE TASK

Want to volunteer in one of Roskilde Festival's more unique camping areas? We are looking for service hosts (camping hosts) for area M - "Rent Your Tent" - where the tents are pitched and ready when festival guests arrive.

ABOUT YOU

Dreaming of festival days filled with music, community and celebration? Then we're looking for you!

Do you have a knack for spreading good energy and can you navigate in an international environment? Are you ready to welcome both the team and festival guests with open arms? Then you're the one we need!

ABOUT US

At Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, we fight for justice and sustainability on a global scale - with a special focus on young people who are exposed to poverty and discrimination. By volunteering with us, you not only get a great festival experience, but also help support important social projects both locally in Aarhus and around the world.

WE OFFER

Become part of a unique community where you not only get the festival's many volunteer offers, but also the chance to create lifelong memories with other volunteers. We usually coordinate a camp, as well as going to concerts, parties and workshops together.

Don't worry, we release shifts once the full music programme is announced so you can plan your ultimate festival experience (shifts are taken on a first-come, first-served basis). And if you have a group of friends, you can experience the adventure together!

ABOUT THE TASK

  • You will be a part of a team consisting of both new and experienced volunteers
  • You will have shifts in the Lounge: a place for refund collectors to rest, ask for information, get food/coffee, and take a warm shower
  • In the Lounge, you will serve food, make coffee, clean up, and chat with the refund collectors
  • Ad hoc tasks related to running the Lounge: organizing the line, distributing items, answering various questions, etc.
  • You should be outgoing and initiate contact with the refund collectors

Practical information:

  • The shifts are in the period between Sunday 30th of June and Sunday 7th July of 2024
  • You will take part in a mandatory information meeting before the festival on 22nd of June at 10:00 – 12:00 in Roskilde
  • You will have 4 shifts with a total of 32 hours, scheduled in the morning into the afternoon
  • On your shifts you will be with a group of volunteers, so you have the possibility of taking the shift together with a friend
  • You get to choose which shift package you would like from the available shift packages. Your shifts are spread across both the warm-up and music days
  • You will never be expected to intervene in a conflict, but we expect you to be observant and to contribute constructively to prevent possible conflicts
  • You will always be able to contact a Lounge Ansvarlig (Lounge Responsible) during your shifts

ABOUT YOU

  • You have good people skills and meet new people with a positive attitude
  • You are ready to initiate contact and curious about other people
  • You feel confident talking to people from different cultures who are in a vulnerable position
  • You are proactive, not afraid of practical work like cleaning, and you are happy to help where you can.

People skills are more important than experience with the target group!

ABOUT US

Every year, hundreds of people from all over Europe come to Roskilde Festival to collect refundable bottles ("pant") to make a living for themselves and their families. They play a very important role at Roskilde since they help clean up and recycle after all the festival guests. There are new collectors coming every year, and many are unaware of the festival's rules and do not speak Danish nor English.

Responsible Refund is a social project by Roskilde Festival, aiming to support and celebrate the refund collectors both while they are working with refund and when they are taking a break. Your work as a volunteer will take place at our Refunders' Lounge - The Big Chill, which is a relaxation spot for the refund collectors. In the Lounge, the refund collectors can have coffee, tea, food, hot showers, charge their mobile phones, and relax. The area is only for the refund collectors but placed centrally and inside the festival.

To guide the refund collectors and keep the lounge running, we need engaged, sociable and open-minded volunteers.

This includes setting up our tents after our information meeting and grabbing a beer, going to concerts and talks together, and having a post-festival picnic together!
