With her groovy, guitar-based indie rock, Dork lays bare the ugly sides of human existence. And she doesn't pull any punches when she rips into themes such as ghosting, selfishness and antisocial behaviour with both sarcastic humour and melancholy.
I’m Not A Good Person was the telling title of her debut EP from 2024. And overall, songwriter Lærke Simoni, who hides behind the name Dork, likes to take the anti-hero position in songs that serve as therapy in a life marked by overthinking and feelings of alienation.
She herself calls the songs feel-bad indie, and you are indeed dragged through the emotional mire in songs like "Legs" and "Houseplant". But at the same time, there is something deeply liberating about the songs, which create a space for shameful, but nonetheless very human, feelings.
The fact that Dork manages to lift these feelings into a captivating universe of indie rock and dream pop has made her a hot name on the Danish alternative scene, where she has both received critical acclaim for her concerts and been named artist of the month on Danish Radio’s P6 Beat. Now she is ready to unfold the therapeutic space of her music at Roskilde Festival.
