MONDAY 29 JUNE

Alternative pop universe with meditative improvisations and complex depths

  • Monday 29 June

With a mix of symphonic collages, ambient passages and minimalist guitar figures, GB opens up new and radical passages in the pop landscape – filled with rich textures and emotional depths.

Under this stage name, London-based Danish musician Gustav Berntsen released his critically acclaimed debut album Gusse Music in 2024 on the influential Copenhagen label Posh Isolation. The album has made a name for the alternative musician internationally. Among others, The Guardian has highlighted his deconstructed take on pop music and compared him to names such as Arthur Russell.

Since his acclaimed debut album, GB has continued to expand his distinctive aesthetic on the double EP Ressed / Falter and the EP Hollis (both 2025), as well as performing at several prominent European venues. Here, with selected musicians, he has lifted the material into a live context with intense concerts, where sharply cut song structures and meditative improvisations are intertwined. Despite his Danish origins, GB has been a very rare guest on Danish stages, which is why it is a special pleasure to welcome his original expression to Roskilde Festival.
