TUESDAY 30 JUNE

Overwhelming show combining gritty hip-hop, rebellious punk and breakbeats

  • Tuesday 30 June

Going to a concert with Mami Umami is an extraordinary sensory bombardment. Distorted hip-hop rhythms, jazzy melodies, punk aesthetics and raw breakbeats flow together with performance art, improvised jams and pure dance floor euphoria, and you never know what's waiting just around the corner.

This has made the Malmö-based band both an admired and notorious live phenomenon, creating a show that dissolves the boundaries between concert and confrontation with a rebellious physicality that stays with the audience long after the show is over.

Originally, Mami Umami was a loosely organised collective in a cold industrial basement in Malmö. Over time, though, it has gathered around the creative axis of rapper/singer Jaquelin Elamiri (Miss Mami) and drummer Leonard Furby, who, with changing musicians, have grown out of the underground without compromising their uncompromising and unpolished expression.

Their genre-defying and defiant music burned through their debut album Söndagsångest from 2024, and with a new EP on the way, they are ready to fire up the audience at Roskilde Festival with their unique live energy.
