With their oddball lyrics and occult themes, the mask-wearing duo Smøgmænd has given Danish hip-hop a much-needed shot of unpredictable and eccentric energy, and in a short time they have gone from underground to viral success to sold-out concerts.
Soundvenue has also proclaimed Smøgmænd one of the hip-hop names to keep a close eye on in 2026, and the same media outlet has given the duo the following fanfare: "No one sounds like Smøgmænd. No one. The closest comparison that can describe this obscure rap duo is if you crossed Malk De Koijn with Jpegmafia and Yeat."
The duo themselves are not resting on their laurels after the glowing praise. Their debut album Broderløfte was released in the spring of 2025, and they have already followed it up with two excellent EPs, demonstrating not only their unique aesthetic, but also their extraordinary wealth of ideas and creativity.
Lyrically, we are far from the conventions of hip-hop in an almost mythological Nordic noir universe, supported by an aura of mysterious porcelain masks and occultism. This is hip-hop with huge cult potential, but also with solid bangers.
